I'm looking for some suggestions for my home theater setup based on the equipment I currently have. It's a real mongrel of a system that I have slowly put together. What I'm currently using is a Sony STR-DE425 Receiver with two front JBL HLS620 floor standing speakers, a JBL ARC Center, two Yamaha NS-AP5715BLF for my rears and a JBL PSW1200 Subwoofer
Ok, so, now i have some choices to upgrade any or all of the above items. I have a Velodyne SPL Series II 1000 Watt Subwoofer with 5 Velodyne Satellites. I also gathered a Polk Audio set of 6 Satellites - RM101, a Center RM202 and a Subwoofer RM10. I also have a Yamaha RX-V992 Receiver. So what of the above is the best that I should swap out?
My room size is a 17x15 Living Room. I have been collecting the essentials for my eventual basement home theater which will be approximately the same size. So, in the end i plan on having 2 systems, but the basement will be the better of the 2 - perhaps even 10.2 surround?

Yeah, that ought to be much better......

Don't worry about avoiding temptation. As you grow older, it will avoid you.

The person you need to please is YOURSELF, not some arbitrary idiot posting someone elses' likes, guesses, or outright BS.
So the way to find out is stick to stuff into the room, play it and see if it makes YOU happy. Period.
No one is more intimate with your setup than you. Swap the components out one at a time. If you can or can't discern an appreciable difference, consider it a valuable lesson.
I prefer two good channels, sorry I can't help. Unless you heard what I just said.
