I am totally confused. It seems like the asylum is several different websites, with different appearances and operation.
There is this, which is the first form I encountered, but nowhere is there a link to the support forum.
http://www.audioasylum.com/cgi/etv.mpl?forum=general
There is the trader which is completely different:
http://www.audioasylumtrader.com/ca/index.html
There's classic, which has a link to support:
http://www.audioasylum.com/forums/news/bbs.html
And I swear I have seen yet another form of the board. I swear it. On my solid silver core cables.
I asked how to see my threads in the support forum. Somebody said click on my name. How can I click on my name, if I can't find one of my threads?
I think they call this place the asylum cause it's driving me crazy.

Hey Jazz,
Welcome to the asylum.
If you werent already insane the site is designed to make you so :)
That way you belong here :)
Here is a link you might find interesting

Apply appropriate name if the Luke part is wrongo.
So many dumb people with smart phones...
There are a multitude of "Wards" at the Asylum that cover a vast array of audio related subjects.
There is two Main ways to view the Asylum "Classic" and "EThreads". Classic is the way I prefer and Ethreads is much more like other bulletin boards.
(You can Chose a DEFAULT View.)
I can't tell you much about Ethreads.... but if you are used to other bulletin boards you shouldn't have much of a problem navigating in this mode.
Hope this helps
Julien

To to this, in any forum in Classic view, click the "Go" button next to the "Find:" field as below, ensuring no text is entered in the "Find:" field.
You'll be presented with an advanced search form that looks like this:
Enter your user name in the "Authored by:" field as above. Make sure the "Threads" radio button is selected as above (the default is "Messages"). In the "From Forum:" field, you can change it to "All forums" as shown, or pick a single forum (it defaults to the current forum), or click "Selected forums" in the lower right for more options.
Note: The above are just captured graphics, not actual working forms.

You just gotta play around with the place to figure it out. There is an FAQ page ( I believe).
Really, not to sound like the matrix, but the place is what you make of it. The info, the people, the many different uses of the site. And this is what makes it great. Nearly any topic of interest is discussed in different areas.
Heck, you havnt found outside... Ha ha... Google "outside asylum" and youll be in the wild west.
Its all pretty self explanatory. Short of the stuff like "click you name" then you hit "posts" and see what youve written.
Personally Ive suggested a kinda basic tips and "somewhat" agreed upon facts page about audio topics that beginners could read and build upon. So then maybe they could get that down and start asking more enthusiast ?s upon their beginnings in this hobby.
Bold Eagle did some amazing write ups on this that should be reading for all.
But yeah. Have fun. Allot to absorb here.
Dave
If you had solid gold core cables I would believe it.
Silver just is not good enough to swear on.
:)
I think Rod (the moderator) does it by design to avoid the top of the page from appearing too cluttered. The support page used to be up there but I'm guessing it's only the high traffic links that get the grease;)
may the bridges I burn light the way...
You can take all those other boards like Audio Circle, Audioholics, Audio Afficianado, etc.....
and this place gets more traffic in a day than they usually get in two or three days. And it's by far my favorite audio related hang out.
