Check out my ad in the Asylum Trader!!
be careful with sherwood reciver they overheat.
The quality control looks like non-existent - but for a $100 i'll give it try I might be lucky one and will work.

little over $100 on Amazon shipped. Actually, checked on the Newcastle, soldermizer recommended and decided on this one instead. Great reviews.

lose value.
at my office and damned if it doesn't sound as good as my higher end 2 channel system in the media room here at Casa Nasty. I just can't crank it because of paper thin walls there. That Sansui is a beast.
The office system set me back $25 (receiver), $20 (Speakers) and $25 (table w/Blue Point cartridge). I love buying at garage sales!

beaten by the MAC, however.
Both are amazing.
I paid about $300 for a totally refurbished 9090DB, with faultless and gorgeous wood cabinet. My acoustic reflex KLH5s need those muscles to sing, though I admit that the indicators never have shown anything approaching even 1/2 potential wattage.
A true beast that does double-duty as our theater amp: when there's an explosion, you FEEL it through the couch.
in the sweetness department. And the loudness button on those Macs weren't afterthoughts.

..keeps on chugging, sounds quite good. $200 long, long ago.
Someone recommended Sherwood Newcastle also, don't have experience with them but they're held in hi regard as well.
I love those vintage Sony receivers. Don't know your model but I'll bet you were happy with it.
Here's some receivers that fit yer criteria. In the body of this post is an HK, new, off Amazon. In the linky is a "sort" on Stereo Receivers at a site I've bought a lot from over the last 20 years, Onecall.com. I can recommend the Denon brand based on a ten yr. old 2 channel receiver I picked up at a garage sale here. I've also owned Onkyo home theater receivers and haven't had an issue ever with them. Prices listed on Onecall's website are often negotiable so don't let, say, a $399 price scare you away..Good luck!!

The Vintage CR series Yamaha Receivers are very nice, they sound good and last forever. Prices aren't bad either.
The Sherwood Newcaste R-772. On clearance around $200. It is a HT receiver so you will have 7 more channels than needed for stereo [grin] but it does an honest (?) 100 watts RMS/channel (8 ohm). It supposedly was around a grand (list) when new, and includes a built-in auto or manual parametric EQ (handy, I hope for use for Bose 901s lacking the standard EQ)--the use I got them for. Download the manual, it's an impressive unit at the price. I got both mine off Ebay. So not a first hand review, but I am passing on a good recommendal. Tell us what you settle on. There are some cheap bastards here (like me!) in additon to all the people who spend more on their audio than most people do on a new car :)
Older two channel receivers are plentiful and really a bargain.
I know around my area, secondhand electronci places have them.
Saturday Audio exchange in Chicago, has a website too, and I am sure they would have some great ones available.
They might not have them up on the site for sale, but an email might land you one you could be happy with.
