This website practices censorship which I feel is Anti-American. I had placed some posts that were deleted. When I complained they totally Ignored me. I told them that this is the United states and not Libya. Just because I have a different opinion doesn't mean I should be shut out. Thanks for letting me rant.
Follow Ups:
Yes, I know that freedom of speech doesn't apply to private forums. However, that DOES NOT mean people can't complain about unnecessary heavy handed censorship and warn others about it. Perhaps the rest of you are OK participating in echo chamber forums where you're only accepted if you toe the party line view. I have no use for such places and appreciate hearing about their issues and motives because it influences where I spend my online time.
In the case of Hoffman's website, it's a place that I might have been interested in if not for the many, many posts I've seen here over the years that reveal what goes on there. Same for Audiogon, and to a lesser extent Audio Circle. If nobody spoke up about the level of censorship on these sites, it would be all too easy to assume the discussions are open and on the level until you find out the hard way.
I thank you for understanding. I guess this site has a lot of robots.
Sock Puppets most of which seem to have your hands in them.
It's a big World Wide Web fell free to set up your soapbox on some other ip address.
OK BONZO!
I'm a freewheeling dude, but your rant on how "midgets have no souls" was just plain mean spirited.

He just needs to watch the movie, "The Point", and hey, the music is great. lol And yes, I am short at 5'8" and Randy Newman is funny.

Wow, you need to maintain some perspective. And your several posts on this thread probably give us a pretty good idea of why your posts got deleted.
Is that jackass website still up? I would've thought the prima donna Hoffman and his so-called moderators would have chased everybody away by now.
Finally, someone that understands! Thank you.
I was one of the initial members of Hoffman's forum (January 2002), having been a member of the old DCC site. When I was permanently banned last May I posted a rant here, just as you did. I was greeted with scorn, ridicule, ignorance of what goes on "behind the scenes" at SH.tv, and borderline hysterical hatred. *shrug*My posts were moved to something called "Whiner's Woad," as I recall.
The lesson I derived is that most, if not all, Internet forums are moderated by unhappy people who use their small amount of power to bolster their flagging self-esteem.

Your to busy on Audiogon!
I spell like crap, so i am certain someone will call me one cutting your spelling/grammer.
The word is grammar.
Please don't nitpick!
.
That's what you get when you cross between a dick and a potato.
It's "You're too busy"
You missed an o. If you look over there, they're trying to do too much to their hair etc.

Do you also think that, having accepted an invitation to a dinner party at someone else's private residence, you should be able to say whatever pops into your head without risk of being ejected out the door and onto the front lawn? If you do think so, I just hope that the number of stairsteps leading from the door to ground level parking do not add up to much more than nine or ten. I'm speaking from experience, mind you.

...it will not affect the operations of that website. It may cause a few new people to sign up!
Because I don't like Nazi run sites or dictators. Obviously I'm not the only one. Look at the middle east.
is ok when your're on the sidewalk or street, public areas ie parks, libraries, (provided permits are required)...but the moment you step foot on private property (Home Depot, the Mall, McDonald's, private websites) you're toast and you got to play by their rules.
And if you don't LIKE their rules, you either grab your toys and go home -or you brush it off and take it like a man (sorry I'm old school).Think about it, would you mind waking up and seeing a demonstration (choose from any dozen or so) on your front lawn that was uninvited? Or would you grab your gun and/or call the cops and tell em' to get the hell outta there?
Same thing applys in your cyber sceanrio IMO...
I'd say let it go

Maybe I am reading it wrong... but that's what I get from this last post.
This is an asylum... but not the one that HE needs, IMO...
You are quite the twisted fellow.
It's his property (the website) so he can do what he wants with it.
What, do you consider internet postings an inalienable right?
Stop whining and start your own website if you like.
1. The right to surf is not protected by the US Constitution, and
2. A website is not subject to scrutiny under the 5th or 14th Amendments to the US Constitution, because it is not a governmental entity.
In fact, Steve Hoffman would probably not even be guilty of a violation of the Civil Rights Acts (no less infringing on the protections afforded by the US Constitution) if he posted his website "for fat white men, only."
This isn't about private property.
"What did the Romans ever do for us?"
....I say you have a RIGHT to post there. Call the ACLU, they will be sure to help....

I have no stake in this personally; I don't care what a recording engineer has to say or doesn't say, it's not my concern.
Might find this amusing;

The moderators run a tight ship. One has to play by the rules.
Regards,
Geoff
Difference between tight ship and Gestapo. The garbage that goes on behind the scenes prob'ly would cause most to quit that demented place. Dude whose name's on the place causes most of the s*** going on there. Goons (erm Gorts) leaving all the time should give one a clue, no?
I guess freedom is not available when someone else is paying for the bandwidth.
Consider yourself lucky that surfing the web is still free. When it costs $30 an hour and you get billed for every site you visit as a surfing charge.. Then you'll know your not in Kasas anymore...
Really? You mean on STEVE's commercial site he uses to promote his often shoddy remasterings? You mean the site PAID FOR by donations from its members? You mean the site where STEVE refuses to clearly state the actual hosting costs? You mean the site whewre STEVE refuses to say how much in donations he's received? You mean the site where STEVE doesn't tell anyone what he does with any excess donations used allegedly for hosting?
You need to wake up.
Amen.
Very peculiar if you ask me.
Then we have the only comment supporting the OP and that poster is a new one, just registered. Golly.
Ohh must be a conspiracy.....

There are a number of posts agreeing with the OP. Can't you count?
Comcast tells me different.
There are some city-sponsored wi-fi spots downtown, but then you're hobbled by laptop battery life.
Everytime there is an Interesting discussion on the Hoffman site they delete it. They are so PC it makes me sick.
what did you post that was deleted?
Take my advice:
If you are posting the lyrics to "I Have a Massive Cucumber", it's going to get you flagged every time.
I know, I've tried.
Show some restraint.
Man up. Moderators are people too. (in a couple hundred thousand years.)
Have lunch with someone beautiful.
Sorry, I guess I was expecting that the reason for the deletions was a difference in matters audio, not language. Otherwise why would sudzie bring it up here?
The Bill of Rights in the US only states that Congress will make no law restricting free speech.
That has nothing to do with the owner of a private publication (Hoffman's web site in this case) - they are completely free to publish or not publish articles, books, letters or any other document as they see fit.
As Elizabeth sagely pointed out, you are certainly free to start your own web site where you will have complete control.
