While reading an obscure article on the internet,I came across inexpensive Sorbothane feet that can be used on any audio equipment. I ordered 3 sets of 4 and they are awesome. $15 for 4 when you buy 3 sets or more. Normally $16.50. I put themn under my cd and can notice a quieter/blacker background. Check it out.

They ship quickly out of NJ.

Sorbothane pucks were one of the first footers offered. I bought some that I still have put away somewhere that were marketed by Audioquest. They are like all other footers, they have pluses and minuses. They seem to make things sound smoother, but transients seem softened. After I got them many years ago, I splurged on Goldmund cones, which I still use, and Final Labs Daruma footers. I use the Goldmund under the transport and the Daruma under the DAC.
Anyone using the the E-A-R mounting feet?
They are made out of a material that is similar to the "Soft Shoes" feet (the version previously made by the Mod Squad). The material is not as compliant as sorbothane, but supports the component better and is less sticky.
Large Soft Shoes were stock on my McCormack DNA-1 amplifier.
You can get the E-A-R feet from Parts Connexion:

I bought several sets of the E-A-R feet a number of years ago, and they work well and look "normal" when installed (less "tweaky").
I don't know if they actually changed the sound of my components :) but they give me "audiophile peace of mind", if you know what I mean!
Anyway, has anyone tried these (or Soft Shoes), and heard a difference when compared to similar feet?

Why/how do they suck?
Worse sound? No audible difference? Too sticky? Whaaat?!?
Curious minds want to know...

I found out they did change the sound of my components, if you know what I mean.
Cheers
Did a Google for Sorbothane and found that Amazon has some, cheap!
They are 50 durometer (whatever it means)
16 pack of 3/4 inch diameter $14.95 and 1.25 inch diameter pack of eight is only $16.95 I ordered a pack of each and got free shipping.
They also have a 5 by 5 inch square pad either a half inch thick for $25. or one quarter inch thick for $19.
The half inch 5x5 supports a load of 1,200 to 2,400 lbs!!!!
Also called Norsorex, "dead" "sad" or "unhappy" balls. No kidding. A superior and not overly expensive elastomer made and used specificaly for vibe damping in critical operations (submarine sonar units, electron microscopes, etc.)I buy mine as 3/4" balls from Arbor Scientific. The folks at Edmund Scientific have them in larger sizes.
These work better IME than sorbothane.
Steve at Herbie's Audio Labs claims superior performance for their elastomer to any of the above and I admit their stuff is very good too, but it's not so cheap. He does sell it in a variety of sizes and will give you very good information on size to weight bearing capacity, plus he's excellent at honoring his satisfaction guarantee.

Sorbothane is one of the most useful materials to be found if you are interested in vibration control. The problem is, it is not always so easy to figure out how much to use. Use too much (or too little) of it and you can make vibration problems worse. Also, you should probably replace those sorbothane feet periodically because the durometer rating effectively changes over time.

Theinternet. I found an interesting source for sorbothane domes, with various durometer ratings too. Well I went and lost the site.
Anyway they are out there.
Sometimes you'll see weight recommendations given for sorbothane products. You just have to make sure that those recommendations are the correct ones for use with audio applications. Industrial applications might require completely different choices in the size, shape, and durometer rating of sorbothane products. That said, a little personal experimentation with size, shape, and durometer rating may prove to be enlightening. Buying 1/8" thick sheets of sticky black sorbothane from places like Edmunds Scientific allows you to cut up your own pieces for experimentation with sizes, shapes, stacked layers, etc... Just remember to protect valuable wooden furnishings or floors from direct contact with fresh sorbothane, because it sometimes leaves behind an oily residue that is difficult to remove.

I was just happy to find a cheaper alternative to all the overpriced damping products out there. If I place them under my cdp and it plays from a blacker background, do I need to worry about durometers etc??
Just passing along a good deal.
If, for instance, you try using three 1" sorbothane domes beneath your CD player and you notice an improvement in sound, try adding a fourth or a fifth, etc.., until you feel that the sound no longer continues to improve and/or it starts to degrade. Then, back off again to the appropriate number of domes. You might also try moving the domes around to different spots beneath the component, because you might find one single geometrical configuration that sounds better than any other. Experimentation is the final key, not only for the number of domes but also for sizes, shapes, and geometrical configurations.

like the ones with the screws as shown. there seems to be no pic of the hemis.

this I think:

because i havent seen the proper image at edmund, i was under the impression that product was no longer available. i got some a few years ago and use them under different components with satisfaction.
i would have recommended them to others had i known they were still available. the audioquest version of the very same item is MUCH pricier. i dont hold animosity for bill low for doing that but its an example of how affordable products are exploited. i just wonder why edmund doesnt show the proper pic.
thanks for the clarification.

That's it. It has felt on that bottom part.
I think the felt disk is a good idea, as the Sorbothane will leave shadow like mark on many components.
what is important to understand, is that you need to use the right sorbothane duro option. if your speakers weight 100lbs and you use 4 hemisphere sorbothane that can support 10lbs each, they will not work.or if you use 10lbs speaker for sorbothone feet that can endure 100lbs, it will not work as well either.
sorbothone needs the right amount of compression to work and so need to be careful in which sorbothane pads to get for your needs
I got those pads for my 26lbs speakers. 4 of those under
