Significant loss for audiophilia, the Audio Asylum (he posted here often) and significant others. He was a gentleman, could hear well, and always resourceful with respect to tweaking. I will miss your writing style, your insight, your humanity. RIP.
Follow Ups:
Last week went to my local high-end dealer to get a past issue of Ultimate Audio to check on a review of a turntable I been interested on.Wasn't until this past Thurday that I got a chance to calmly sit down and read. After four pages of what it seems worthless letters I put the mag. aside frustrated unable to get any valuable info out of the review. Remembering that the issue also had a review on the Tenor Amps I pick up the magazine again but this time to enjoy the reading of this article. Was very refreshing and agreeable the way this guy wrote with such a passion and no apparent "politics" involved; just plain fun, informative writing.Memories when TAS was fun to read came to my mind so I returned to the first page to find out who the reviewer was. Sounded more like an audiophile than a reviewer and an audiophile it was. His name Lars Fredell. You'll be at home in audio nirvanaSam Telling sorry on your lost of your audio buddy.I think is going to be tough to find someone this great to pick on
Lars helped me with questions i had when i was considering the Tenors; he was very generous with his time and shared his enthusiasm in the pursuit of musical reproduction perfection.he was a class act.

Wish we could have listened together.Bet God has a killer rig up in heaven though...
("Excuse me, Peter, Uh... Is that an actual symphony inside the speaker?!!!!")
Unfortunately, it's not unusual for men to suddenly have heartattacks in age 50's. Women also if postmenopausal. Put down the remote for a day and go get a checkup, cholesterol levels especially...
I thought it might be thoughtful to send some flowers and a card (maybe several of us could bundle together something and label it as coming from audioasylum).I enjoyed his conversational writing style, similar to how a friend would describe his system. The following is the M.D. in me talking: I encourage everyone at or over the age of 40 (younger if you have any family history) to get a stress test (emphasis on the stress - this means some serious huffing and puffing) regardless of your degree of physical fitness or lab values. My father-in-law passed away at the same age last August, and at least looks wise was in good shape.
Good health to all,
Arooj
If you guys want to email me, I have his address. I don't want to post it.
I remember well reading of him in the Cheapskate's column for many years. Having the opportunity to interact with him here on the Asylum was such a pleasure: an audiophile and gentleman of the highest order was he. RIP
and condolences to Lars' family. Being a Swede myself, I am sad to have lost a fellow and an audiophile as well.

A significant loss to us, and from reading that write-up, a bigger personal loss for Sam T. My condolences to the family and also to you Sam on the loss of a dear friend.Mike
My thoughts and prayers are with his family. I corresponded with him occasionally and he was one of the few real gentleman. The Asylum and the audio community will miss him greatly.
I, too, wish to offer my condolences to Lars' family, and to Sam Tellig, and to Lars' other friends.
Best regards,
Wordsmith
This comes as a great shock - having corresponded with Lars on and off over the last couple of years, his willingness to help, to offer his unbiased opinions and his genuine interest and never ending curiosity fuelled my own interest and enthusiasm in this shared hobby.Lars will be greatly missed here in the community and my thoughts go out to his family and close friends.

My sympathies go out to his family.Lars emailed me a few times back and forth when I was getting the Sony SCD-1 and Dodson. He had the combo and was helpful to me and fun to talk with regarding SACD in general. I think I still have one of his emails saved on the HD.
All of the Inmates at Hi Rez in particular and AA in general, will miss his posts and contributions.
