Is it a good replacement for the 5687 on my Lux amp?
Thanks.

Raśl,
I built a conversion fixture so I could try the 6n6p with the Lux. The fixture plugged into the tube sockets for the 5687 and changed the pinouts to the proper locations.
I thought the 6n6p sounded terrible in the Lux -- clearly the novel Lux circuit and/or operating points do not favor the 6n6p in this application.
All the various brands of 5687s I tried on the Lux sounded excellent.
Thanks for the info Cappy.
Hi,
No, it is not, even if ignoring the fact that the valves are not pin compatible.
I cannot think of any Noval Valve I would suggest instead of the 5687 and even the cheapest 5687 easily trashes all the russian 5687 wannabes (6N6, 6N30 et al).
If you want to improve the Lux, consider using the tube with only one halve as follower and using the second halve to cascode the follower, makes it basically a Allen Wright "Super linear Cathode Follower" with a choke instead of CCS.
