It may help you find the component if you search with the usual description of " Optical Pickup Unit" not Laserhead.
Replacing an OPU is not straightforward if you don't already possess the necessary skills. There are handling precautions that need to be observed such as control of static electricity and some OPUs are not just straight install and go but require calibration (tracking) adjustments which, in turn, require a special test disc. If you don't know how to access the original unit in the first place you may want to consider whether or not this is this a project for you.
Follow Ups:
I invited a tech for 2 January to make initial diagnostics. Perhaps, simple cleaning or other operations will solve the problem.
If you have a tech coming to service it then I wouldn't buy any of the OPUs discussed in this thread at this point. As you say, cleaning may fix it *
As the Tech is responsible for the fix then let him source the OPU. If he gets one that is incorrect in some way or misfunctions then that is then his problem , not yours. But get him to quote a price first.
* Although cleaning the laser collimation lens can work for disc misreads, my experience has been that unless the dirt on the lens is reasonably severe this is still a sign of a weakening laser diode and replacement will be required at some point subsequently. If the lens is "hidden" within the machine it is actually quite hard to contaminate it unless you are a smoking household or the player is sited where airborne contaminants can reach it e.g. near a kitchen producing smokey cooking.
