No, Abe, I haven't heard anything about Roon being supported. To be fair I haven't actively looked into it either. The BluOS is very good, though I realize it's not at the level of Roon. My guess is that they will support Roon at some point or, who knows, maybe they'll keep working on and upgrading their interface and come up with something that will compete with Roon.
They team at Bluesound seem very ambitious. They seem to have "hit the ball out of the park" with the batch of gear they've introduced in the past couple of years. They don't seem to stand still either. I've had my Node 2 for about four months now and the have had two updates for the BluOS so far.
So I'm hoping that they either integrate Roon or continue to develope their OS so that I might compete with it. In the end if they don't, I won't mind, I simply love what they've come up with so far.
Cheers,
Scott

Thanks Scott, I'll keep my fingers crossed for Roon support as I think the Bluenode 2 is an outstanding value. I really wouldn't mind having one but I am invested in Roon and would prefer not having two different interfaces into my music.
Hey, Abe,
The Bluesound Node 2 is listed under "Roon Ready" network players with (*) denoting coming soon.
Cheers,
Scott
Cool. I don't recall seeing it there the last time I checked. Thanks.
Abe, Can you tell me what features of Roon that you really like?

I'll add couple more thoughts to what Steve already said.I like the fact that the user interface is fast and reliable on my iPad. It is very responsive or snappy. It scrolls through album art very quickly.
I like the way I can easily choose my audio output device from the iPad. In my case I choose between the MyTek DAC in my office, the microRendu in the basement, or the AppleTVs in the family room or bedroom.
As Steve also mentioned Roon Advanced Audio Transport (RAAT) does a fine job of handling PCM or DSD on it's own. It sounds great, but it can also integrate very easily with HQPlayer for perhaps another small increment in audio performance.
Roon is just a very well thought out library manager with rich metadata and a smooth reliable player. I know that various network players come with their own Apps but Roon has set the bar much higher than the rest so going back to another App will be, well, a step backward IMHO.
When I read about and consider new network players I place a lot of weight on whether the device is RoonReady. The reviewer has to cover this in his review or the device maker has to have the "RoonReady" check box checked in their spec sheet or I lose interest.

Because I highly respect your opinion, I downloaded the trial Roon today and have been playing with it all afternoon with my SBTs and Raspberry Pies.I have used LMS extensively for over 5 years and have taken advantage of a lot of Custom Pluggins written for and by LMS users. So my initial comparisons are based on that. Have you ever used LMS and are familiar with it? If so, maybe you could tell me why your Prefer Roon over LMS.
My initial thoughts on Roon...
1.) It does display some niceties regarding Metadata, although this is not that important to me.
2.) As far as I know, Roon lacks Spotify Support, which I prefer over Tidal. I've had both, but now only use Spotify. LMS supports both with a Ickstream Pluggin.
3.) I noticed on my Version of Roon, they had a 'Beta' Version of Internet Radio. This is a Biggie for me as use this for discovery of new music. The roon Version did not integrate with Tunein Radio, as you had to 'Cut and Paste' a URL for a radio station. LMS has a Great Interface.
4.) I believe that you said you use HQPlayer with Roon and I was wondering what this gives you that using just Roon does not? I believe HQPlayer is another $150?Thanks for commments.

I have used LMS but that was a number of years ago and my interface at the time was just a Logitech supplied remote control... nothing fancy like an iPad screen. As for HQPlayer, it gives you the flexibility to 'tune' and upsample everything to DSD if you wish. It -can- improve sound quality over Roon alone but in my findings it wasn't huge, but a slight incremental step up with the right settings. I am running just Roon at the moment w/o HQPlayer.
I can't comment on Roon with any streaming services. I run Spotify, Pandora, or Amazon Music now and then but outside of Roon and usually in the car. For home use I mostly play from my own music library that resides on the Mac Mini & SSD.

Abe, If you have only tried LMS with the Logictech Remote, you have not tried LMS. The Logitech Remote is the worst way to control LMS and hardly anyone uses it. Why don't you try LMS with your MicroRendu and use your Laptop and Either Squeeze Ctrl (Which is much better than Roon Remote) or Ipeng. And LMS is completely FREE !!IMO, LMS is much more powerful and more feature rich than Roon except for the Metadata aspect. But, if you are into the Metadata, you won't like LMS. But LMS is superior as far as controlling your devices, Remote apps are superior, It's much faster, Better interfaces with Streaming services and Internet radio, has a plethora of developers throughout the world designing neat stuff for it as well.

I was shocked that Roon will only let you play 1 of your Devices at the same time.I have Roon playing the same tune in my office and down in the basement right now. Works for me.
I have no reason to resurrect LMS in my system. When I had my Squeezebox I used it as a secondary system up in the kitchen. LMS was running on the Mac Mini server down in the basement. Sold it all a few years ago.

I would not want to listen to what my wife listens to. I am talking about having 4 or 5 different Play Queues with Different Devices all playing at the same time on the same network that I can control with my Phone.... LMS can do that. You certainly don't have to try it..... Even if it's free. I tried Roon a couple times. I am always willing to find something better.

Roon can do this too but having only 2 people in our household I really have no need for more than 2 devices at a time.
If Roon is of no benefit to you stick with LMS.
I like the metadata, the support for native DSD for DACs that support it, RAAT that links Roon Ready DACs and computers, and the well thought out Audio setup to name a few. I also enjoy the way it allows me to access my music collection.
