If I were you, I would rip all my CDs to my computer hard drive and then copy them onto high-resolution USB flash drives and plug the flash drives directly into the Oppo's USB ports. You will never have to play a CD again. Anyway, that's what I would do. Wait a minute! That's what I did. ;-)

The sound is not the same when compared to a good CD player ...
They sound the same on my system and Ive owned two good CD player. The first was an Audio Alchemy DDS Pro transport with a DDE V3.0 DAC and the one I just replaced was an April Music Stello CDT100 transport with a DA100 Signature DAC. Files played from a USB flash drive on my TASCAM DA-3000 sound as good or better than any CD player I've heard.
The transport is inconsequential; it's the DAC that makes the difference. I made A/B comparisons between the Stello CDT100 Transport and a computer stream into the same Stello DA100 Signature DAC and the streamed digital sounds the same as playing a CD. I have a very high-resolution system, too.
Best regards,

I wasn't aware that USB flash drives had a resolution. LOL.
It's interesting after the major discussion about the relevancy of CD technology we are hearing about dead ones. If your CD player dies and you don't want to update to newer technology I have one word for you ....Goodwill.
Sorry! I meant high-capacity flash drives. ;-)
While I take a different tack by storing my digital library on a hard drive (along with 250 movies), I'm able to backup the contents to a single 256 GB USB flash drive. And I also have an Oppo player which can stream content from my server. The advantage being that multiple systems can simultaneously access the same library without having to update multiple copies.
Nine thousand jewel boxes in the palm of your hand is a pretty amazing concept. :)
