I have listened to the EE CDP in my system , the only thing holding me back is that I had an Arcam 9 A-B with the EE and the Arcam had better dynamics and separation of instruments. The EE did better with female singers and maybe just a tad smoother with electric guitar. The Arcam has a more pronounced lower midrange which sounds better with male vocalist and the electric guitar is more pronounced. The Arcam was better in bass too.

Did you try NOS tubes in the EE ? They make a huge difference.
The Arcam was not on your list. Then why did you ask if you aready made up your mind on the Arcam?
I have not settled on the Arcam, it is to recessed in the female voice region. I am trying to do some more research in able to get more of the sound I would like.
