I wish the audio magazines would print photos of the backs of speakers and pieces of electronic gear. I want to know what connections are available and how many. Also, how are things laid out and what sort of quality of parts are being used. Most times these things are glossed over.
I would much prefer a backside photo than multiple glossy pics of the front of the unit in question or pages of graphs and charts that I don't read or can't understand.

Why can't inmates go onto the makers' websites and look, or just go to 6 Moons which is full of photos, related or unrelated to what they 'review'.
The ones that cover the subject of female beauty.

Why not?!!Sex sells... and it used to be quite common, specially with sexy late 79's early 80's Japanese gear!
Anyway +1 for that

As discussed in this forum a while back, one of the goals of Stereophile's
redesign for 2012 was to allow us to print more photos in our full reviews.
Which we have been doing. Also, in the Web reprints of our reviews, like
the one linked to below, we include even more photos.

it's not any big deal whatsoever to go to the manufacturer's website. Afterall, I'm already using the internet to post on AA. Instead, please use any "extra" space for more music reviews.
"If it ain't one thing it's another . . ."
While I agree Beetle,
Those picts of the back arent on every manufacturer's site. Bat, Bryston, magnepan all come to mind. Some products have them some dont, some have line drawings or you have to look in the manual. Some make you sign up just to look at the manual.
Much better to have a review have the actual connections. Often you learn a bunch about the product by those photos, and the inside photos too.
Heck, the reviews often show up on manufacturer's websites too so why pay for the rags when you can just browse the internet and see the reviews anyhow??????
Afterwards we discovered faith; it's all you need
"Those picts of the back arent on every manufacturer's site. Bat, Bryston, ..."
Bryston I can understand, look under the hood of the 4BST and find, wow, 60,000 uf per channel in a 200 w amplifier.
No wonder it responds like no other to aftermarket cords ... it needs all the help it can get! (but sounds good with a good cord, go figure)

But that was only because back-panel real-estate was an issue, in that the Balanced analog outputs are on TRS jacks rather than XLRs.
Thanks for raising the issue, and I will try to be more sensitive to it in the future. But "more sensitive" does not mean that I will be pleading with the Mothership to run a photo of the rear of a loudspeaker with just one pair of Plain-Jane terminals.
Ciao,
John

They probably mention the connections in the review.
They probably don't go in depth on photos because all companies have websites where you can go and see a lot of pictures.
at both mags is sadly lacking. many times i would love to see exactly what the product looks like and there might be NO photo.
other times there is a plethora of them. go figure.

...Steven Stone, the reveiwer/photographer who did the photos for the YG speakers in the latest TAS?
The place where I read SF and TAS stopped carrying both :(
