"...credible evidence of "sexually abusive and harassing conduct toward vulnerable artists in the early stages of their careers."
Whatever that meant decades ago, and today, are two different things. I don't know specifics, if they were named in the article, I couldn't finish. Indeed MET, in the current atmosphere, had no choice.
Be well yourself brother
Follow Ups:
you may actually be part of the problem. Is it really that mysterious? There are easy ways to figure it out even if you actually don't get it. Just ask yourself, would I be doing exactly the same thing or saying exactly the same thing if this person were my mother. That will keep you or any other person other than Norman Bates safe if they can't actually discern what is and is not acceptable conduct
Maybe he was a disciplinarian who took his art seriously? But who can keep up. The World is to exorcise all the skeletons out of the closet of the dying Patriarchy. Overzealous teacher or Hannibal Lecter it's all the same.
enough with the Levine! and pop culture references!!
I'm sorry I even brought it up!
wait, did I bring it up?
it's like you're analyzing a 'Whiplash' + The Mormon Tabernacle Boys Choir
mashup ... hmm, there's at least an HBO series there ... good work men!
ah, whatever, carry on
stay well,
Very probably he was a serial sexual predator. And yeah, different times. If you were bad enough back then to get called out now you were probably really bad.
The only Levine performance I ever saw was a Cleveland Orchestra children's concert in which he played Rhapsody in Blue (Shaw conducting). He stayed onstage and was not near any of the adolescent attendees. I mention this because a number of people have defended alleged sexual predators in classical music by saying, "Well, I never saw him do anything like that," from which we're supposed to infer that the allegations must be false.
I hate Rhapsody in Blue, but I'm not blaming Levine :)
