I have also been auditioning the 8402 cables and initially was fairly impressed with their full and rather natural sound. However, like you, I am now noticing that when "the singer belts it out" the sound becomes strident. I have heard a lot of differences in the many cables that I've auditioned over the past 20 years but never stridency. Its very strange as if it is something other than the cable.
A very good description of what I'm hearing also. I don't know why, but it goes away when I change out the Beldens for other silver cables or the magnetic cables. What I did not try was using the Beldens with different speaker wires.

Both I and a friend have tried the Belden 8402 with OCC copper speaker wires that were croyed[Audio Sensibility]. I should point out that my friend built his Beldens with Croyed wire from TakeFiveAudio. In my case the Beldens were already built for me by TFA. Cyndi Lauper "At Lasr", showed blat on first playing. It has improved to enjoyable after about 60hrs. Has anyone else tried OCC speaker wire with the Belden ICs? Just wondering what you're hearing? Cheers, lloyd
Where did you get your Beldon Interconnects as there are a few people making them. Thanks for the report. I've been exchanging my Audience interconnects with the Belden and the results have been positive.
I have been using the WE16ga and now the Duelund cable. I decided to switch back to my Wywire "silver" midline series and did not hear what I agree was the "homogenizing" effect described. So yea ya have to spend some time comparing. The 2 much cheaper speaker cables are no slouch and very good
but system dependant.I still use my 8402 balanced on my digtal setup.
And all very good. My vinyl setup uses Wiwire same series.

Thanks! for sharing.
Sorry to chime it but here in Canada I bought a set of ready made and croyed Belden 8402 ICs from TakeFiveAudio. Gene at TFA also has Belden 8402 for DIY. He got so many requests for the ICS to be made he now offers them already made. TFA believes the Croyed Beldens are better. Just saying. Are the Beldens better than my Audio Simplicity Signature silver ICs? In My system, no, but are they stupid good for the bucks [In my system]? Heck, yes. But YMMV. Systems are so variable in playback with wires..synergy is the key. I use the Beldens on the Oppo Nuforce 93NXE to the Luxman and the Audio Sensibility Signature on the Oppo 105 which really loves the AS cable. Cheers, lloyd
Surely you jest.
Well, of course it seems ridiculous and so do 250,000 speakers and on and on. I could never afford these cables but I have enjoyed using them as they have come in and out for review. By the way these aren't anywhere near the most expensive cables around. Still this is why I have shared the great sound you can get for far, far less money!
