I changed over from Zu Varial to Zu Event RCA IC throughout my system a year or so ago, and I have to say these are excellent cables! Exceedingly clean and clear, yet smoother than the Varials. Imaging, 3D quality, bass performance, air are all excellent. Price is reasonable when one considers rest of the high-end cable market.
I'm surprised I don't see more posts about them. Is that because no one else is using them, or because they are old news?
Follow Ups:
I met Sean Casey in 2002 at CES...really a great guy...we kind of became fast friends...
My Events are series 1 interconnects and speaker...my digital was one of 3 prototypes...that just recently went into production...
With my Maggie 3.7i's the speaker cables are open, with a big deep and wide sound stage and play to the Maggies strengths of imaging, timbres and musicality...I had Zu Wax's for 10+ years and they bettered Transparent Ultras, Oval 9's and Kimber bi-focal...
I have owned the
Oxyfuels...nice budget cable
Wildes...very musical really good overall cable
Missions...better sound stage and imaging not as musical as the Wildes...
Mission MK II B's...their best budget cable on the market to date...really really great interconnects...
Event 1's true giant killers...they really do everything right...
The Event S/PDIF digital replaced a Transparent Reference and have not looked back...
NOW the reason they give you 60 days is they take 400-600 hours to burn in...they state that right on the website...they start out sounding great out of the box...but then go all over the place until about 350+ hours...all the Events are oxygen free copper coated in sliver with the white Teflon Dielectric and Litz design...this applies to speaker, interconnects and digital cables...
I am one of those weird Audiophiles that likes all the same brand through out...except power cords...
So...Yes, I really do like the whole ZU Event line and I am going to call Sean and see what are the sonic changes for the Event MK II's...
ZU got a bad wrap selling new models really cheap on Ebay...then they would jump up to full retail and not move on the price if you ordered them...there are not allot of Zu fans out there and used market is slim pickings...
I personally feel they are great value and good company...I have turned on 2 of my audiophile buddies to ZU cables and they also feel they are a great sounding cables...they currently have Missions all around...
thanks for posting...Zu's are kind of Redheaded step child of cables...

According to the Zu Website. The Event speaker cables are some copper/silver combo. I don't use any speaker cables per se as I have my mono amps wired directly to the speaker crossovers with a hard-wired extension of the Cardas Copper Litz crossover wiring, perhaps 18" long - that was a big improvement to my ears over ANY speaker cables I'd tried. Thanks for your feedback. I'll most likely give the S/PDIF cables a try; the guarantee makes it pretty much risk free.

You are correct...I was thinking of the speaker cables...
thanks

I used them for awhile. I agree totally- they are a musically satisfying yet accurate cable that is hard to improve on for the $. I switched to balanced ICs so my single ended Events went away, but I'd recommend them highly.
Did you go "up the food chain" to higher priced ICs?
Similar well balanced signature to Event, but even more transparent and spacious. Worth the extra $300 at $1200? To me, yes, but I'd be happy with the Events, particularly at used prices. I found there weren't very many used events on the market, though.
Hmmm...interesting. I'm happy with the Events, but the grass is always greener, as they say.
change just on the conjecture that it might be even better. Particularly with cables, there is no clear path to synergy.
Currently I'm using a $20 true 75ohm BNC cable from Digikey, on the theory that digital is less prone to cable effects. Sounds great now but with the 60-day return policy Zu has I figure why not try the Event S/PDIF? If there's no improvement I can always return it.
Best quote about audio I've read in a LONG time!
It can be a slow, arduous (but fun) crawl at times.
