Does anyone offer this service?
If so; How would one know that your cables were actually cooked and not given the "emperor's clothing"?
I don't doubt there is a audible improvement, but for the average guy that doesn't swap his IC's and cables out every few months, it makes little financial sense to buy a cooker.

Audio Excellenace AZ, is another option.
Lummy does, maybe he will see this query and chime in here.
Over the past several years, I've had Alan at Audio Excellence AZ cook all of my cables and interconnects and I've heard significant improvement on every scale of measurement, soundstage, detail, crisper transients, extended dynamic range ....
Plus, I find his prices are reasonable and he's a prince of a guy, to boot.
If you want a taste before determining whether or not to buy your own cooker, I give him an unqualified recommendation.

What does Z mean, is it like X (ie. can't spell)...

.
AZ is the 2 letter code for Arizona.
We have had this audiodharma Cable Cooker since 2003. Word quickly spread, and people started borrowing the Cooker. That wasn't working out, so we kept the Cooker in one place, and had people ship their cables, outlets, tonearms, and PLCs to us.Be warned: once word spreads that you have a Cooker, everybody is your best friend.
Truth is, there is no physical way of knowing or marking that a cable has been treated. The only thing I do is provide the cable's owner with a photo, showing that the Cooker is indeed passing signal.
The vast majority of audiophiles who ship cables to me do NOT want me to blog about the cables. Of the thousands of products which my Cooker has treated, only a small percentage ends up in my reviews.
If the cable is not marked for directionality, I will indicate which direction the cable has been Cooked, usually with a Velcro strap or sticky.
My Cooker is in almost constant use. There's always a steady flow of people who ship me their wares.
