Hi fellow music lovers,
As I'm in the process of finalizing the voicing processor of my system by adding that one vital power cord onto my integrated, it seems that I'm at a lost on which direction to pursue, at present I'm using a Triode Wire Labs 10+, but am thing some with OCC based purity copper with to my ears is even more transparent as compared to any sort of OFC based cabling I've encountered to date.
I know that Duster - Jay and a few others here have tried both power cords, and have read a great deal here on both, but as I'm trying to get a stronger feel for one or the other, I'm hoping that someone here can add to said insight?, as once again this is intended for a EL84 based integrated, I'm seeking more extension at the very top end by not at the expense of texture or delicacy, in other words more organically correct with a greater sense of midrange warmth, yet without being overly smooth to the point of losing definition in this vital area.
As I'm all to aware of the fact that many don't believe that cables|cords are worth investing in! none hear the advantages of spending more selectively on cables or power cords to enhance their systems, yet I'm one whom is a believer in what I hear, yet haven't know heard either of these for myself, and thinking I'd rather post this here as opposed to one of the other forums, as I believe many here are just as capable of assisting me through this, I'd ask from a purely logical point of view has anyone here had the chance to hear either of these power cords?, and if so, could you define what each sonics merits might entail?.
While not a techie type person, I'm more then capable of matching up the AC|IEC connectors required to bring out the best in either of these as I plan to build one or the other from bulk, and am intending on using either Furutech or Oyaide connectors and voice accordingly.
So I ask each of you to dig deep within and assist this older, yet somewhat still open minded music lover in knowing what's what.
TIA!, to those of you whom are willing to chime in on said matter, as its of the utmost importance for me to get matters right off the bat.
Kind regards,

I know the nature of your Totem monitors, and I think I know what you describe as your personal goal, so I'll suggest a power cord that may fit your wants/needs.
You might consider an Acrolink 7N-P4020III terminated with the new Wattgate AU EVO gold AC connectors. I use the medium gauge (14 AWG) power cord configuration for a moderate output power amplifier with an array of nearfield monitors in my computer workstation, and find it presents outstanding focus and treble extension without sounding bright, with a midrange characteristic that suits the nature of a power amplifier very well when mated with small 2-way monitors. The only caveat is it does not present as big a bottom end as larger gauge power cords tend to provide, however larger gauge power cords if not designed or implemented well can involve caveats of their own, such as a bloated bottom end that masquerades as full-sounding bass, and/or dull-sounding treble energy with poor high frequency extension.
It's important to note that I use the Acrolink 7N-P4020III terminated with Wattgate AU EVO gold AC connectors in a system featuring a powered subwoofer, so a fast and well-articulated bottom end via the main loudspeakers integrates well with the subwoofer output and various settings, so a big bottom end is not what I seek from the small 2-way monitors within that particular system.
How do you feel the difference/improvement Wattgate EVO AU connectors compared to the old Wattgate, or Oyaide P004/C004? Thanks a lot.
While the original Wattgate 330i Au and the new Wattgate EVO AU feature a brass base metal with the same three-layer plating scheme, the new Wattgate EVO AU is sourced from another manufacturer and features a rigid polycarbonate body and shell. While I have not done a direct comparison, I suspect the sonic signature of the Wattgate EVO AU is not quite as warm and a bit more vivid sounding than the 330i Au while remaining on the warmer side of neutral, IMO.
I've terminated the 14 AWG Acrolink 7N-P4020III with a number of AC connectors, and find the palladium Oyaide 046, the gold Oyaide 079, and the gold Wattgate AU EVO AC connectors to be be compatible with the particular Acrolink power cord. The Oyaide 004 features a beryllium copper base metal and a different plating scheme, so it's sonic signature is quite different than the phosphorus bronze base metal Oyaide 046 and 079 AC connectors and either brass base metal Wattgate model. The Oyaide 004 is not quite as good a match when mated with the particular 14 AWG Acrolink 7N-P4020III as the others are, while the 004 excels when used with the 10 AWG Acrolink 7N-4030 II power cord.
For a number of source components within two audio systems, I use the 14 AWG Acrolink 7N-P4020III terminated with either the palladium Oyaide 046 or the gold Oyaide 079, while I use the 14 AWG Acrolink 7N-P4020III terminated with gold Wattgate AU EVO AC connectors for a power amplifier in my computer workstation -- I find it's sonic signature, especially its midrange presence complements the the presentation of the *power amplifier* vs. the Oyaide AC connectors.
YMMV
Duster,
As always.........., very logical advise, and a recommendation I intend to live by in so much as the options of either using said WattGate AU EVO Gold, or Furutech FI-11 ( Gold ) AC|IEC Plugs. And in the New Year pursue the more upscale Acrolink 7N-P4030 II AC Cord with P|C-004 Plugs.
Thanks again.

Hello there Duster,
I'll make this response short and to the point..........., I know your ear, and trust your opinions more then most, as not to offend anyone, but you've taught me about all of this stuff since 2004, and I for one remain grateful to what I know to be your " truths ".
I'll be going this route and saving a few coins in doing so.
Thanks | Much Respect | Gratitude.
