I made some 2 foot rca cables using Canare L-4e6s (star quad mic cable). I twisted 2 blue wires for HOT and the 2 white wires for GROUND.
BUT I didn't use the SHIELD.
These cables are for connecting my preamp to headphone amplifier.
Am I going to have ANY issues by not using the shield???
Follow Ups:
No worries from a basic function POV, but you would need to try the cable when the shield is grounded in order to know what may sound best in your own system.

"...An installer may then choose to "float the cable shield" by not soldering the overall braid (or drain wire) at one or both ends of the cable. This technique may result in better "unbalanced" circuit noise rejection."

Wow...maybe I did it the right way.
Thanks for the informative link!!
