It's gonna be a bear to break-in I can tell. I installed it with its matching accessories, the bracket and plate. It replaced a wattgate 381-ag. So far, dull and murky sound. Improved power, and slight improvement of placement, but overall smaller stage. Hoping the break-in will bring an increase of resolution. It is however grain free....it sounds promising. I need to give it time to settle in, and then allow the thing to break in.

At about 180 hours, the sound is opening up, showing signs of the holographic soundstage. Still not up to par with my wattgate. As well, the sound went from dull the first couple hours, to shrill and metalic highs, that extendall the way down to vocals.. The vocals have a raspiness riding them that I'm not liking at all.
I've read in other places that this raspiness is from the rhodium plating and "evaporates after 500 hours" ....so onward with the breakin. I also have the rhodium furutech fuses, but don't recall this phenomenon, but reading the comments of the treble refining and losing its knife like quality instills hope.
It does have a very surgical/x-ray type sound- very transparent. and while I do enjoy resolution, I can't help feeling that I lost some musicality for it. If this thing loses the metallic highs, plumps up somewhat in the lower registers and stays controlled as it now, after break-in, then I'll be very happy.
As an aside, MIT cables "white papers" discuss their break in phases, and I feel that it can hold true for other accessories as well. My morrow cables followed the same "phases" as the MIT. MIT says they come into their own with 400-500 hours on them, and the magic doesn't begin till the end of the break in. I think this is quite true for cables and connections. Couldn't tell you why- but I trust my ears, and agree with MIT.
We will see what this thing does after proper break in time
If the issue does not improve after further burn-in, you might consider sending the AC outlet to an audio shop with a cable cooker for a more intense burn-in process. Also, a careful choice of AC plug connected to the AC outlet may affect the presentation in a beneficial manner. Synergy with other gear should always be considered when evaluating new AC delivery devices.
Give it some time. Resolution and dimensionality are great now. Really wide and deep soundstage adding to the holographic feeling of the music being played back in the room. I have the full Furutech carbon fiber wall plate and cover. The GTX-r is a fine outlet. I upgraded from a Teslaplex.
How many hours do you have on it? As I type, I only have 25 hrs on mine. It most definitely needs some time, because honestly, my silver plated wattgate is spanking it. I wouldn't have thought that, even with the furutech being new. Obviously, my wattgate was fully burned in, with countless hours.I've got a real loss of sonics, it just stopped sounding like a real performance since installation of the gtx. I'm a little disappointed to be honest, but I know how important break-in is. I went through it with my cables, but I would not have believed that the system would have taken such a dive from the new outlet. It sounds flat and uninteresting. Just ho hum sound...

I estimate that I have around 450-550 hours. I recall that I had similar early hour issues as you describe; however, not to the extent you describe. My immediate reaction was how clear and articulate the musical reproduction was. Somewhere over time, the images and depth increased immensely, don't recall how long that took. I don't think I was ever dissatisfied with the sound going from the Teslaplex, which was also good. I am using Shunyata Black Mamba into a PS Audio P10 from the outlet and the amps are using custom made Neotech 10 gauge wire with Oyaide connectors. When the amps were plugged directly into the outlets they were more susceptible to noise and static on the line, despite dedicated circuits. That is why I went with the PS Audio P10. I don't notice any difference in sound with the amps plugged directly into the wall or the regenerator except for the elimination of static noises which drove me crazy.
You can always A/B your old and new outlets like I did..I had two outlets next to each other and compared the Teslaplex with the Furutch and despite the newness of the Furutech was able to discern the better and articulate mids and highs, with more of an organic sound.
The sound today is enchanting and mesmerizing. I know terms other might say for competing outlets, but that is an individual opinion. I am waiting for custom made Furtutech
Power cables with the top 50-R AC connectors. That way I will have total rhodium for the amps to the wall through the PS10.
Give it some time..you can always let them run in with some appliance or a 500 watt plus shop/work light for some time as others have to speed break in.
Good luck.
After 500 hours, I'm finally happy with mine. Thanks!
I would love to hear how it sounds relative to the Wattgate AG-381.
I have GTX-D (G) outlets. I was afraid that rhodium version wouldn't work for my system. For instance ACME SLVR plated cryo treated sounds too mechanical in my system and a bit on the bright side for my taste. I have 6 dedicated power lines and it makes it easy to A/B the outlets. I really like GTX-D (G) in my system on my monoblocks. The amount of detail and low level retrieval is amazing. I don't know how long they take to brake in though (mine were burned in already).
