I have some gear with non-removable power cables. Is there a way to shield these? Can they be wrapped with something? Also is there a way to shield an inline power supply (wart in middle of cable)?
Thanks!
Andy

I have used this for tuning my sound.
I haven't gained anything from shielding cables. In fact none of my power cords or interconnects are shielded and I have no noise issues. My biggest noise issues came from safety grounds and untreated crappy AC which I have dealt with other ways with w/o shielding. Shielded cables always took away something sound-wise with my gear as I tried many a (shielded) power cord and interconnect.

Why not simply change out the cable?
For use with a captive stock power cord for RFI absorption, I suggest a Highwire Audio Power Wrap:

The thin sheet copper is very difficult to impliment. it does not bend. The ony way is to wrap it flat, two flat sides pressed together. so the flat can be rotated to make any twists needed.
The other material is antistatic foam. The black type. roll it around the wires, then that MUST be grounded to be effective. Sticking bare wire into the foam and down to the AC ground pin is fine. if you use multi strips of antistatic foam, each should either be connected with bare wire, oor bare wire to ground to be effective.
I wrapped my antistatic foam shield with plumbers teflon tape. With the ground wire inside the teflon tape. Works great.
You can tell the effectiveness of you shield with a $22 GreenLee GT-16 non contact voltage detector. From Amazon. The Greenlee is the better device compared to others in around the same price range (yes I tried them, the others SUCK sompared to Greenlee)

Hi Elizabeth, I’ve got a CEN-TECH non-contact voltage detector from Harbor Freight. It is very sensitive and goes berserk at contact or even near any of my power cables (4 Pangia’s, 2 Bob Crump, 1 MS Audio PC from Vintage Audio Lab (eBay), 3 or 4 stock pc) with the exception of one. This one I just finished building a few days ago. It is built using Supra LoRad cable and Valab carbon fiber and rhodium plated copper plugs. No response what so ever from the CEN-TECH. The CEN-TECH looks just like the Greenlee.
I’ve no doubt seen antistatic foam shield but just can’t place it in my mind. Where would I look for it?
Also Duster’s suggestion of the Highwire Audio Power Wraps is excellent. I’ve got them on my AC and refer along with ferret cores and they have really tamed the noise.
Best to ya,

I can say Pangea are shielded completely along the cord body. Only the plugs are not shielded.
So I guess you testing is a little flawed? You may be picking up other stray radiation besides the field around the Pangea cords?
Though yes the ends, the connectors are not shielded. But once even an inch away fron the connectors the cord itself is inert.
I'm sure you're right; must be stray radiation.
