Hi everyone:
I am using a Cardas cross interconnect from my VPI Aries/Lyra Skala turtntable set-up to my Jadis JP-80 MC preamp. I am considering upgrading this interconnect if an appreciable improvement in sonic performance can be achieved. Any suggestions? Thanks everyone. Roger

I have an aries 3 and skala cartridge, mcintosh 2300 preamp, upgraded to Cardas Clear phono from Golden reference (standard rca ic). Considerable improvement across the board. Bass is more defined, highs clearer (no pun intended). Doubt I would consider testing anything else for a while.
Please make sure you try out any cable that you intend to buy because cables are incredibly system dependent. I've tried a bunch of ICs between my Amazon table and ASR phono and I found the best to be the Furutech AG12 IN MY SYSTEM. There are a lot of great cables out there. Call Jay at AudioRevelation or The Cable Co. and arrange to try out a few.
The Cardas Cross is a very warm and musical cable. To make a proper recommendation, I would need to know what you are trying to achieve. Are you simply bored with the Cardas, but generally like the warm, musical sound, or are you looking for something with more speed and resolution? What kind of price range are you talking about?
I had to think about your question - what am I trying to accomplish. Ultimately, like most audiophiles I am looking for tweaks such as cables that will produce improvements in music with the ultimate goal of attemting to reproduce that live performance. I do like my Cardas cables and I wanted to make sure that I was not ignoring an important component in my TT performace. Thanks for your comments.
Well the reason I asked is because cables, like anything else in audio, have synergestic qualities. Which means that you can't just buy one that will improve sonics across the board in all areas. Most cables will provide more resolution and accuracy than the Cardas, which you may or may not like. For instance, Nordost is VERY revealing, and while some people love it, others do not because it exposes many warts. High definition is not for everyone.
If you are simply looking for something that is still warm and musical, like the Cardas, but just a bit better, you may be interested in something in the Kubala-Sosna line. You still haven't recommended a price range, so I'll just say that I've owned both Cardas Golden Reference and the K-S Emotion, the Emotion would be a step up.
My personal favorite warm and musical interconnect is the Jade Audio Hybrid Gold, which is pretty pricey, since gold is also pricey. If you are looking for something with more speed and resolution, the Stealth Indra is a very good interconnect. Not quite as fast as Nordost Valhalla, but close, and a bit more musical.
As you can see, there are many different roads that you could choose. Saying that you just want the sound to get better is like saying that you want to drive. Unless someone knows which general direction you want to head in (sound attributes you feel are missing), or how far you want to go (price), giving directions can be rather difficult.
I completely agree with your comments. I will look at your recommendations and go from there. Thanks again.
I haven't been exposed to quite the collection of high end style cables as some of the contributors have, but think in general you may want something more detailed and quick. For that reason I use Silver lace in my rig, going from my TT to my phono stage. I agree that you should get a few cables including pure silver from the Cable Co. library to try. It will sound different than the Golden Refs which I also use from my pre to my amp because of my analytical speakers. It all works well which is what this synergy concept entails.

Well if the Cardas cable in question is a standard IC with RCA's at both ends,a long burn in on a line level component( at the very least) might push it to the next level. I recently bought a turntable( Amadeus)that accepts standard IC's from table to pre-amp. "Cooking" the IC's for this run on my Hagerman FryBaby makes a big difference in the sonic outcome. Both a modest Mogami 2534 and Zu Xaus were noticeably improved ( to say the least) after a 72 hour session on the FryBaby. Bottom line....the Cardas might be the perfect cable for you after proper burn-in.
I don't usually recommend anything but you might want to talk with Alex from WyWires.
There is a return guarantee on them
He just came out with a new v3 cable and it is more than very nice on my vinyl.
