pre and cdp are through a Hydra 4.
And what PC are using to feed the Hydra 4?
Follow Ups:
The Hydra came with a Diamondback PC, found package deal on Agon.
don't ask questions you don't want answered...
My amps benefit the most from a good PC, my cdp and preamp only slightly.
That may be the case with your system. But I have to wonder if your conclusion is not cued some what by the introduction of the Hydra 4 and the Diamondback PC.
I wonder if you would come a way with the same thinking if the Hydra 4/Diamondback PC combination were not part of the equation.
Are you using just the stock OEM PC on the CDP? Or is it an aftermarket?
It would be iteresting what your listening results would be if the Hydra 4/Diamondback PC were removed if your opinion, Which Component Benefits More From a PC Upgrade? , would be the same......
Best regards,
Jim
jea48, Good point I would ask the same. Last spring I bought four Audioquest NRG 10 PCs. One for each amp and one for the preamp and cdp. Because I'm crazy and obsessive this winter I pulled the AQ PCs from the preamp and cdp and tried stock, not much difference. At the amps no doubt huge improvement with the AQs. I ended up selling two of the AQs and getting some lighter gauge cords that were also cheaper for the preamp and cdp with equal results. I only got Hydrated a few weeks ago but suspect if I experimented cords between the Hydra and the cdp or preamp it would be a waste of money. YMMV P.S. Separate 20 amp isolated ground outlets, one for each amp and one for preamp and source. Ed

I believe the NRG 10 PC is non shielded.... Great for power amps and preamps.A CDP, as a rule, works best with a shielded PC.
It helps control hash, RFI/EMI, from entering a CDP from the mains and helps prevent hash, RFI/EMI, from the CDP going back out on the mains.
Also helps stop radiated RFI/EMI from the PC crossing over onto ICs close to the PC.If memory serves me right the Shunyata Diamondback PC is a shielded PC.
