Thanks Paul,
I think I am stuck with the Aussy plug because I am also using a Thor power conditioner and stabilizer and it's box (power strip) of course is made for Australian plugs. Very hard if not impossible to modify that.
In any case I have found that the cable itself seems to make the main difference in the sound. I am guessing that the receptacles are important but probably come second to the cable itself in terms of sound impact.
Right now I have reached a stage where I am confusing myself. Finding the best PC cable for my DAC was easy but I just can't quite decide which cable sounds better on my Pre amp and the rest of the system. Too may changes at once, need to slow down and give the cables a chance to burn in I suppose.
Thanks again for your feedback.

Many folks (myself included) find that various AC connectors and AC outlets can make a huge impact on the presentation of just about any power cord, so I would opine that the two aspects are equal but different. Overall, it would be a pity to obtain a stellar power cable that's terminated with mundane AC connectors, which is then plugged into a mundane AC outlet. Conversely, if one could not (or would not) upgrade a stock power cord, re-terminating the power cord with even the best AC connectors/AC outlet configuration would be a worthwhile thing to do, but certainly not an optimized upgrade path...
Thank you Duster,
My plan is to upgrade all the parts that are within my sphere of influence. Sadly certain things are outside my control and I will just have to optimize around them.
I follow your threads and contributions on the forum Duster and greatly appreciate your input.
Kind regards
Gaby
