Hi. Am craving a touch of warmth from a pair of 20ft/3m XLR interconnects. Currently using Mogami 2549. What are my options at various price points?
$500/pair?
$1,000/pair?
$2,000/pair?
Any guidance greatly appreciated. I am seeking a little bit of warmth, not looking to stray radically far from neutral. Not interested in changing speaker cables or components right now.
Thank you

When I had the Kimber HERO I thought it was on the warm side of neutral, although just a tad rolled of at the very top end. However a very clear presentation.
I also thought the Acoustic ZEN Ag RefII was slightly on the warm side, ever so slightly.
Don't know how warm you want to get, or can get, without sounding muddy.

thank you guys... am curious if anyone can recommend any pre-made solutions (non Mogami, Canare, or Belden)
We suggest making your own.
Using a four wire (no-shield): x-pattern with
the opposites connected to each other.
For the length you desire this would be the
best option to use.

Jay,
If you indeed do live in NYC, unsheilded cables are probably not a good idea. I live in Brooklyn and find proper shielding to be mandatory. If you live in a bucolic, RFI free area, unshielded cable might work.
You'll find gold plated XLR connectors to be subjectively warmer than silver plated ones, all thing being equal. Neutrik XLRs, exactly the same, save for the plating exemplify this.
FWIW
I use Mogami 2534 Neglex Quad Cable balanced interconnects from Markertek - $50 for 2m pair.
They provide quite decent sound in my system, and I don't immediately think "I need more warmth here".
Regards,
Geoff
