Do hi end aftermarket power cords make a picture improvement on Plasma and LCD screens the way they improve the sound on Amps,cd players etc?
Follow Ups:
FWIW, I have a PS Audio Ultimate Outlet with a Audio One Reference PC connecting my Pioneer Plasma TV. The picture quality improvement is not subtle vs just a stock pc.I find that the contrast & brightness levels needs to be turn down more than usual with the UO & AO PC.
Using Walker SST on the PC plugs improves the PQ even further.
A good one offering equivalent improvements for plasma as many high end audio cords is the cryo treated Belden 19364 cable. I get excellent results with this.
The cord I'm seeking would be for a LCD tv (250watts at full brightness). My budget is no more than $200 new/used was thinking of a VH Audio Flavor 1 cord. It's for low power equipment (cd players preamps)but I figure while the TV consumes a lot of wattage-it doesn't have the same KIND of current demands at 250 watts as a power amp-right? What should I look for (shielded/or un shielded,lo capacitance/hi capacitance or other things entirely?)Any help would be appreciated
As someone already mentioned what you want is a power conditioner.I own the APC H15 and it transformed my plasma TV to a higher level of clarity but it's around $350.There's also the APC H10 for a little less.Good Luck.
I have not tried such cords - but adding a ferrite on the supplied power cord at the TV end did appear to improve PQ. I have done the same to all the power cords in my system.
I've not modified any of my CRT tube televisions to accept aftermarket power cords, but I've found balun based and isolation transformer based power line conditioners to be very effective towards a better picture (much greater visual improvement than a video cable upgrade, IME). I don't know how a PLC will affect a Plasma or LCD TV's picture, though.A PS Audio UPC-200 (essentially a dual bank PS Audio Ultimate Outlet) balun based PLC serves my main system, while Powervar 4.0 / Model ABC402-11 isolation transformer based PLC's do service in my two secondary systems.
A used PS Audio Ultimate Outlet (single bank duplex) can usually be found selling for $175-200 on Audiogon:

A used Powervar 4.0 / Model ABC402-11 (480VA maximum) auction can sometimes be won on eBay for as low as $35:

Especially when I changed all the power cord ends to Furutech connectors. Including all captive cords.
Don't forget your AC outlets. Changed all to Furutech with improvements to picture also.
Grain free picture with more saturated colors.See my Home Theater for details.

but a number of simple AC tweaks are very effective. The biggest improvement I have seen is using a 5-7 henry inductor across the hot and neutral on the same circuit. The PS audio Noise Harvester is effective. Also capacitors across the hot and neutral, better outlets, etc. My guess would be a cord would also be a improvement.
