I had the Eros in my system a very short time. Sadly it went home with Paully.I haven't finished my Seduction Power Supply rebuild and I already want to get the Eros.
The difference in volume in my system was a quarter turn on the volume pot. After all the posts about noise I decided to give this a look. I had to turn the volume up much louder than I would have dared listen before anything could be heard from the Eros. But I only have 94dBW speakers. I know a lot of you have much more sensitive speakers.
And the sound, yes, more highs and lows. Bass tighter, and the soundstage ~ ! ! ! You guys know I'm a soundstage junkie and that is what is going to make me hit the purchase key. (as soon as I get another job)
Instruments had greater "Body" than before. I first noticed this improvement when upgrading with MQ iron. But the Eros makes it so much more dramatic.
Doc and PJ have outdone themselves to bring this level of performance at such an unbelievably low price.
Congratulations to all involved in this project at Bottlehead!
Edit: I should have mentioned detail. Sorry, the detail is exceptional.

I hadn't considered the Eros as an option because of lack of space. Some things have changed and now I will have the space previously filled by two Seductions just for one. More than enough for an Eros. Add that to your review and to the fact that after five years Eileen and I have finally found a safe and inexpensive way to ship into Mexico and I guess this is time for an upgrade.
Thanks Grainger
Somewhere I need to find a "Tip Of The Hat" smiley face to insert here.
Xavier, I don't think you will ever look back. As Paul said, it is an order of magnitude. And I'm adding for not too many bucks more.

I must have missed your earlier post. Would you mind sharing what you are going to do for the Seduction PS re-build for us technically challenged individuals?
Thanks in advance.

I bought a bigger transformer for the B+ (bigger power supplies are used in a number of top products, FP III and Eros come to mind). That will use a (hybrid full wave) rectifier of 6X4 and soft recovery diodes. This will feed left and right channel filters.
I bought the wrong chokes first (Hammond 155Hs) so decided to use them in the first leg of the filter. I used the 155Js which I bough after I found my mistake in the second leg of the power supply.
I didn't spend too much money for the filter caps. Just nice low ESR Nichicons. There will be some local film caps in the audio chassis.
I will modify my C4S board to accept two, right and left, inputs because of the dual mono supply.
The heater supply is a circuit board that uses three series regulators to get to 6V DC. Thanks to the Bottlehead who sent it to me. (I don't want to bother him, so unless he wants me to, I won't name him.) This will have 3 amps availability so it can run the stock or 6N1P tubes that I have a box of (PJ reported a reliability problem). And 6N1Ps require a different resistor in the audio circuit.
The picture below is the top of the chassis, which needs to be bigger. The tube between the chokes, unless someone says that is a bad idea.
I guess that is about it.

yikes! if you get an Eros, you can surely find another use for this- preamp? or Eros? I put the two Hammond 155J's in my Seduction, used some 3K z5u discs for the rrsf (mainly cause ez'r to solder), and used some larger Panasonics for filter caps, bypassing the last one with a small auricap. I have a monster unlytic film cap to use in it, but it sounds good & I'm not motivated to work on it anymore right now.
when you just smile. Sounds like you are happy with your modded Seduction.

yes, I'm happy with it- nice caps, and I have a lot of good tubes for it. Listening to soundtrack from "Brother Where Art Thou" right now and it sounds great! I think I've hit the law of diminishing returns with it, tho, so I won't do to much more to it. I'll probably get an Eros at some point instead. ;)
I was listening to New Favorite just this morning.
I haven't heard my Oh, Brother I bought yet, maybe this afternoon. It is one of 4 AK LPs I bought recently. And I got a new (to me) Tony Rice too.

I wouldn't call it a reliability problem in the usual terms of tube to tube variation or out and out failure. Our experience is that 6N1Ps seem to have a relatively short lifespan in terms of when the sound starts to degrade a bit - maybe six months or so of play on average. They don't get all of a sudden noisy or short out, they just gradually get more "muddy" sounding. They will still function in a circuit just fine when this happens, pulling the right voltage and current. Dunno the mechanism - maybe the cathode material gets tired?
I did understand that they went "soft" earlier than the stock tubes. And that may be why they were so cheap when I bought a batch of them.
Thanks for the clarification.
