This amp was started years ago but originally didn't work as expected. Two chip amp Jaycar kits have replaced the amp modules and the heat sink and PS have been beefed up. NOW IT WORKS at long last.
40W RMS into 8ohms with the normal chip amp protection all built in. Also power filter and 300VAC tranni. 10A rec. bridge (snubbed) and 2X8,000uf filter caps. Sounding clean, linear and uncluttered and bloody great bass - OMG! Nice WAF too.

Congratulations. Nice work.
Thanks mate.

What speakers are you driving? And is the power level sufficient for good dynamics and all that?
I need a drill press. I can't even make a clean hole in a metal face plate. I used to own one plus some large diameter hole punches for tube socket holes. I'll get back into it someday.
Looks like you're having fun!
Thanks for the nice comment. The speakers are 15" Beyma concentrics like Tannoys. They 99db efficient. My 2W SE UL 6L6 tube amp drives them loud.
Depending on the job sometimes I just hand drill, others I use a drill press. I have two stepper drills for larger holes. Holes for octal sockets requires my bigger stepper dril.

Those are really efficient speakers giving you a wider ranges of amps to play with. I have a pair of speakers down in the basement that seem to require 100wpc or so before they 'come alive' with decent dynamics.
The last time I used a stepper drill was on the roof of my pickup truck to install an antenna mount for a HAM radio whip. Talk about scary! Too big and I'm in a heap of trouble. Too small and I'd be there for hours filing it out with a round file. ;-) Wish I could find my Greenlee hole punches! Lost them in a move.
I also use these speakers with a pair of DIY 150W Tripath Class D monoblocks. That's the beauty of high efficiency. They also work really well with my DIY 2W 6V6 SE UL. The only draw back is the lower 3db point is about 50hz with some output at 40hz. They are in 170ltr reflex I closures. For me that's fine I mainly listen to classical.

Wrong forum. Inmates here are all about Buying 'stuff'
Not often about building it.
Clearly building is your hobby.
However, If using the things is the ultimate goal?
I might suggest? Build a Firstwatt amp.
Unlikely you would/want/need any other? just a thought :-)
Thanks for the suggestion but I'm a tube amp man mostly and amps a build myself. My DIY gear posted here has always had nice comments.

Some of us have day jobs and families but that doesn't mean we don't appreciate a good DIY post. I used to DIY when I was a kid and suspect I will again when I'm retired with extra time on my hands. In the mean time, it's fun to see what others have done.
