I am new to the board and have a nice collection of equipment i am considering selling. One item is a brand new, in the box JVC M7050 power amp circa 1980. I am the original owner, just never got around to hooking it up.
Anyone have an idea what the fair value of the amp is?

Hi David and welcome. Unfortunately this is not the forum on which to sell gear. Please use our classifieds, linked below. Taking a few minutes to read the rules/terms of use might be useful, as well.
Fax mentis incendium gloria cultum, et cetera, et cetera...
Memo bis punitor delicatum! It's all there, black and white,
clear as crystal! Blah, blah, and so on and so forth ...
So asking the value of an item is considered selling whether one owns the item or not?

It's his first post and he is dangling a sweet sale on that hook.
I don't know. Fishing a cheap amp like that? And he is new. Who cares anyway? If he didn't say he owned one and just asked it value would that be OK under AA rules?

I'll have to reread the post but I think he was asking how much he should sell HIS JVC amp. Not buying a one.
I -think- the rules have gotten tighter or there's a newer interpretation of the rules. I remember several times in the past when inmates have asked about the value of a particular piece and others would chime in with various audio bluebook prices as well as average selling price from Audiogon's online bluebook. I would often give my input based on tracking items on Audiogon by memory as I would get a 'feel' for typical pricing on certain pieces that I followed.
I saw one go for $200 a year ago.
