Here's a quick shot of the system. Sounds great now that the Denon is back in there. The Thiels did not really like the Outlaw RR 2150 that was doing temp service.

Wonderful system. I go nuts when I see these tapered speakers. Cannot get it out of mind for a day at least.
Is it possible to push the speaker forward 6 inches to a foot? Maybe you will need to turn the table around. Dont know if there is room.
Cheers
Bill
No unfortunately the dining room is long and thin and that's the long side. If I move the system into the living room it would be no problem, but that has to happen slowly without the notice of SWMBO. It took long enough to allow a stereo into the dining room at all!
Some of us don't like to actually admit it but I for one did like some of the 80's stuff.
The only problem with the 80's was finding those hidden gems. Brands that were pioneers and leaders in the audio field in the 60s and 70's were taken over by bean counters and suffered terribly. The second string names from the 70's started to come into there own in the 80's because they were honing their manufacturing technics on how to make a good sounding mass produced stereo. Names like Marantz and especially Fisher were being crushed by cost cutting pressures.
I think they were victims of the "sell to the classes" side of the retail equation. During the 60s and 70s the Japanese were building a much more lucrative "low rent" "sell to the masses" product line and penetrating the market. Then, as established brands, they kept the bread and butter crap flowing but had the resources to build and design high end gear. Toyota/Lexus = Panasonic/Technics.
Fisher and the other American and British super brands were caught in the wrong end of the equation and (surprisingly for relatively small companies) weren't able to react quickly enough when the onslaught happened. Just look at how long Caddilac and Mercedes took to react to Lexus, same thing I think.
But I could be wrong.
Upside is that we have so many opportunities to find great sounding gear under the dust! I just picked up a Sony DVP S7000 for 8 bucks. That's just crazy.
Oh, excuse my terrible french spelling, please.
That should have been, "Bon Appetit".
(My bad...... ) ;-)
The system looks great, all kidding aside. Very nice job.
Now you really can party like it's 1985!
I'm just wondering how you knew I was super attracted to bone apes! Mmmmmmmmmmm Bone aaaaaaapes.
.
nice pics! MannyE.
