I've got a chance to buy a set of these amps but can't hear them first. I'm a big fan of Herron so I'm thinking of taking the leap.
Follow Ups:
I had my Herron amps for close to 10 years. Had them upgraded to 1A and the improvement was amazing. They highlighted weaknesses in my system that I resolved. Neutral. Musical. Natural. Fast. Fun. I sold them about two years ago, miss them, but have been having fun listening to other amps. I have only found two other amp since then that gives me all that the Herrons did plus a little more. So the question is do I buy another set of Herrons, spend double for a 95 pound tube amp, or another 4K for the other SS mono blocks? Returning to Herron and a month in the Caribbean this winter looks like a clear option. I did love their sound, size, and music. I would pull the trigger. I you have Keith's preamp, you are done. Now, we just need him to make a dad....ha!
I've not heard them in my own system, but I have heard them several times at the CES and THE Show. As part of a system, Keith's amps are always musically satisfying. Each time they are among my top favorites at a particular show.
Also a friend of mine is a reviewer for PFO and selected the Herron amps for his reference. I know he is a very critical listener.
But Earl is right. Buy them for a price you could resell for, we all have different systems and tastes and only you will know if they please you.

I've owned various Herron products over the years (phono, pre and amps). I was never disappointed. Many years ago I had a complete Herron system driving Audio Physics Virgo speakers. Superb.
I'm about to send my VTSP-2A that I purchased new thirteen years ago to Mr. Herron to be upgraded to the current 3A-r03 version at what I consider a very reasonable cost.
Honestly, regardless of how much I like the sound of these products, I've never experienced better service and support.
Can you tell me which tubes he uses in the Stock pre-amp,,3.A-r03 Just curious.

When Karl says something is good, he is right. I heard his rig. Very nice. A class act of a guy too.
I can only comment that logistically for a used pair I don't think I'd pay much more than $3K since you can't hear them. This is because if you don't like them you could resell them and not take a loss or much of a loss. A pair sold for $3200 recently. Good luck.
