My V4's are five years old with a new set of JJ KT88's. I have DIY 3 way speakers based on Wilson Watt/Puppy. They are 6 ohms with a dip to 4 ohms in the lower hz range and have a sensitivity of 90.5 - 91.0. The sound is great and is very complete. These amps have smoothed out my highs which before were somewhat claring but are now very smooth and pleasent. The mids are truly unbelieveable. The bass is very good and tight. My heavily modified Dynaco MKIV's did not go as deep and in comparison were a bit sloppy. These amps have also increased the focus and depth of the soundstage. One thing I wanted was amps that did not emphasis one area of the music at the expense of the rest. These, I believe, do that. They transition very well between lows, mids, and highs.

The 88 has KT 150 tubes in it.
KT150s, the newest version does. Last version came stock with JJ KT88s.I'd like to hear from some owners that have gone to KT66s and/or EL34s compared to the KT88s. I know this has been done before, but I'm coming up on a tube reorder day sometime soon this summer so I'd like to hear options from some end users that have tried other tubes than the 88s. Thank guys.
OP, enjoy the V4s, I've had mine for about 4 yrs now and have never had a day of regret, performance wise or durability wise. Mike Sanders builds one great product!

Four ohm taps sound best at our house.
Glad you like them because they last and last.
Congragulations on your amplifiers! I was at my Dealers yesterday writing out a check for the Silver 88s with the KT150 tubes I've been auditioning while he was at the Newport Show. He had his V4s playing and said there were some great sounding rooms at the Show but how much he really enjoyed coming home and listening to his set-up without feeling he was missing a thing, I couldn't agree more. I've heard it several times and it is just so natural and musically engaging hitting all the right buttons. The Quicksilvers are just wonderful amplifiers, I can't say enough good things about them.
I have a pair of these also and agree with your review. New these amps are a great deal, but used the value is unbelievable. If you have a chance try the with the Tesla EL-34 recommended by Quicksilver.
Have the Silver 88 coming to drive the Gallo Strada 2 speakers. Hope they can drive them.
Don worry, they'll drive those Stradas just fine. The Silver 88's are a very powerful, dynamic amp for that load.
I would try the KT66.

These are great deal compared to other "high end" PP tube amplifiers, just as they are.
