I was wondering if anyone is using these Shuguang mono block tube amps? I heard some recently and liked them but have found very little information on them online. They seem to have been made for only a short time. Still I would like to hear from anyone still using them. How have they held up over the years?
Follow Ups:
I would venture to guess that you were seduced by the 845 tube as opposed to the amplifier itself. If you research amplifiers that use the 845 tube as the output device, you will find many excellent amplifiers from which to choose.
Follow the link below to an high quality 845 amplifier engineered and manufactured in the USA.
Palustris, why would you suspect that? It isn't just the 845 that makes this amp nice, it's also the 300b driver tube. I own the amps he heard and they are special amps. Shuguang is not a fly by night company and made quality gear. I say made because the name has been dropped and new products are under the PSVane moniker. I'd garner to say that the company is an elite Chinese manufacturer and provided their products at impossible to beat prices.Ian at Grant Fidelity worked hard with Shuguang to get the QC on these amps to a high level for North America. I believe there were about 7 or 8 revisions of the amp between the two companies that sold it, and mine are the last generation. Production has now stopped on these, but PSVane does sell the successor to it - a parallel 845 SET for a pretty penny. I'd personally rather stay away from the parallel designs.
At LSAF last year I had a handful of guys ready to buy them off me and even more that were intrigued. That wasn't even the product I showed and interested parties were quite disappointed, much like Luther, that they were no longer available for retail purchase.
When I bought these, they were clearanced at $2k for the pair plus the matching integrated. This performance to dollar ratio is one of the biggest benefits of these amps.
Luther, I wish you luck and hope you can find a pair. I won't lie - your offer still lingers in the back of my head, but I don't ever see me taking you up on it.

Skip I figured as much. That is why I haven't brought it up again. Now I roam the vast interweb.
I also like Kara's equipment. But I have only rarely - and then some years ago - heard the words "$8595" spoken on this forum.
Observe, before you think. Think before you open your yap. Act on the basis of experience.
Thanks for the link. I like 805 and 211 but don't need all that power with my horn speakers that are around 100dB efficient. The 845 gives me that SET magic midrange with lower power.

Thanks for the link. I have seen this and other while doing searches on these amps. Grant Fidelity is one of only two companies I have found that sold these a few years back. For whatever reason, they weren't in production for very long. This makes it harder to find people who actually own a pair.
