Christmas is near and I have been thinking of upgrading my 2 channel setup with the options I have hopefully you guys can give me an idea for my tastes
1. Amp -
a)Yamaha AS 1000 or AS 500
b) Nad 316 or 3020 hybrid
The price of the as-1000 is a one time only because they haven't shifted the only amp brought to my country and they want clear their inventory.
My listening tastes range from mainly classic rock, classical, blues, indie and oddly enough old school hip hop and some dance. I am partial to a warm to neutral setup.
Follow Ups:
Thank you for your repliesAlas the nad 316 sold out hours before I went to the shop so only choice now are the yamahas. The nad 3020 doesn't look the part which is important for the wife acceptance factor.

Lucky guy that I am my wife is 100% tolerant of my component's aesthetics so I'm bemused by (1) wifes who seem to care so much, and (2) men who relent before their opposition. What is more remarkable in 99audiolan's case is that his wife seems to distinguish between components that look so basically similar ...

My mistake
it's the 3020 hybrid digital amp I was discussing earlier
At least the D 3020 bears little resemblance to the Yamaha.

I am so happy that you are okay with my choices. I will sleep so much better tonight O hi Fi comptroller.
Best small amplifier sold direct from Switzerland no Distributor or Retailer markup is the 125 wpc Goldmund JOB 225, $1695 nothing else gets close especially at the price.

Thank you for your suggestion
The import tax on audio products stands at 25% with a 12% sales tax in my country. So I think it is not practical as buying from a vendor because they get tax concessions for bulk imports.
Even adding on the duty & tax the Job 225 is still a great value. When buying direct from JOB to the UK they pay the tax in advance, so ask them for a quote. The full delivered price to the UK was £1089 including 20% VAT an absolute bargain.

This article seems to give a different approach

So I think this going to be my final call
a) Yamaha cd n 500
b) Yamaha R-S700BL
Speakers are going to be dali zensor 7th
Will let you know after every thing is setup
Thank you very much for all the help and your valuable time.
The NAD's are great, no doubt, but not on the warm side. Clear, sharp, non fatiguing with excellent dynamics and EXCELLENT separation. Easily drive most speakers with not much fuss.
If you are spending about $1000 look into the NAD C355 or for a few bucks more the C375. (exact model numbers?)
The Yamaha that I did hear was quite nice. Warm, detailed and plenty of punch. I'm a NAD fan but I DID like that yamaha!!!!!
I would look into the Yammi!

Welcome! 99-
if you like NAD products, seek out models made in the 1990's- the best!
The newer Yamaha 1000, 2000 or 3000 are very well made and have excellent sound-quality.
