Hi I am receiving a Naim nait 51-2 on Tuesday. I use and love a high end jaton operetta cd player which is incredible. I will be using a couple different interconnects from cardas clear light to crl to lfd. I have never had a Naim before. What are you impressions of this piece..

i had the previous unit, plain 5i. don't imagine it's much different. it was my main amp for years, got some more power-hungry speakers and i would've upgraded to higher wattage naim separates if they weren't so damned expensive. in any case, while affordable, the integrated is a very serious piece of gear, and like most naim gear, can be relied on in the right rig to deliver your music. i have a nait 1 and will never part with it. i still use a cd5x for redbook, unbelievably good cdp for the money. same, for the naca speaker cable. nothing is left to chance in salisbury, everything is brilliantly thought out. naim has entered the "new era" to some degree, and most of their modern units can be used w/ rca interconnects, but having those ridiculous din's is part of the fun. enjoy.
I concur, Naim cd players are simply, outstanding!
A very nice piece, no games nor gimmick(s). A minimalist approach to excellent sound. Best paired w/ a Naim spinner connected by a Naim BNC-type connector. I heard this piece w/ its matching CD spinner earlier this year and we impressed and I do not even like integrated amps!
Nice piece. Very minimalist, but what an integrated is deigned to achieve when done well (send an attenuated signal to speakers), what more does it need?
With amp/speaker matching, it's always an experiment worth doing. And with Naim it's worth trying bling because residual values on Naim gear is very good. So if it isn't quite what you are after in amplifier sonics, you can sell it on without much fuss.
Naim amps have a character unlike most others (Exposure comes close), and they are famous for their pace, rhythm and timing (prat). They grip speakers of just about any load well (Epos ES14s love a NAP250 but sound quite pathetic with a lesser Naim amp).
I have owned a few different Naim pre/power set-ups and I remember them very fondly. I will probably bring Naim amplification back into my system again at some point.
What are your speakers?
