Arcam makes great processors. I would not buy their amps though.
IME Sony make better processors than Arcam. However heard their latest A49 G class amp made in Rochester USA with Sonus Faber speakers Guarneri Ovation 400 this was one of the best sounds I have experienced.

Thanks! for sharing.
Presumably Ashly since they are from Rochester, NY and are owned by the JAM Group of Companies just like Arcam who are from Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire UK.
Since I once owned an Arcam Alpha integrated I'd trust Ashly a LOT more to create a decent product than Arcam. That integrated failed regularly (about once a fortnight) due to a design fault in the PSU and build quality was non-existent.
Erm.. Acoustic Research Cambridge ergo : Arcam.
Frankly I would not touch anotrher Arcam with Your$$ let alone mine.
Twice burned ..Triply Shy.
Arcams are Glowingly reviewed by Professional Sycophants. (wonder why?)
Yet, once brought home and carefully auditionoed...the things are, Despite their Usurious pricings, High End aspirations, to be simply Mediocre Mid-Fi at best.
IMO avoid it, like as if it carried the Plague.

Not quite.
Arcam: Amplification & Recording Cambridge.
Still crap though.
bare: I totally agree with you, I just wanted to get other views, exactly the same goes for Cambridge Audio I would not touch one of their products with the proverbial barge pole.

Can't speak for Arcam. Have never had the least bit of interest. However, I agree 100% on Cambridge. Had 2 of their CDP's fail within 6 months and found their highly touted Aero 2 stand mounts a huge disappointment. Hand me that barge pole when you're done.
I"ve had 'mixed' luck w/CA. I had an 850c delivered DOA. The 2nd was, too. But we traced it to simply a loose connection. CA later sent me the software UPDATE for the player, since I was having real problems with my AirPort Express. The DAC section would NOT lock to the high jitter output.
My current DAC is a CA DACMagic+ since I ended up having NO need for a CD player. The OTHER factor is that Cambridge uses the SAME Sanyo transport thru their ENTIRE line. A 1500$ CD player with the SAME transport as the one that retails for 400$ is, to me, a ripoff. I would have expected one of the premium KSS (sony) or PRO (philips) transports.
Too much is never enough
Who peed in your punchbowl?
I've always had good experiences with Arcam gear.

+1.
After hearing the Arcam FMJ A19 I purchased it. Having lived with it the past six months I can say it is one of the best purchases I have made. The music coming from it is fantastic. Its build build and functionality is way, way beyond its pricepoint.
