I found an old Pioneer SA 1530 amplifier for $10. Not super high end, but somewhat old school and not bad sounding. 135wx2 and draws 480w. Pretty much the opposite math that newer consumer level junk uses.I have some nice cables that are terminated with banana jacks that I would love to plug directly in. i know there is not likely to be a drop in solution here, but can anyone suggest a part that would at least fit inside the hole and i can use a soldering iron and heat shrink tubing to figure out the rest. the existing part is roughly 60x45mm. I would like to avoid cutting metal. i only need to connect one set of speakers.

Seems like you are really over thinking this. If you don't want to cut the ends off of your cables and 12 gauge wire won't fit the push sockets, then go to Home Depot and buy some 14 or 16 gauge wire and be done with it. No offense intended but that receiver probably won't benefit from 'really nice' cables anyway.
So here is an allegorical middle finger to all of the people that said I should chop the connectors off, run wires out the back, use lesser cables, or otherwise ghetto rig it. Not perfect, but not difficult or expensive and sounds better then any of the crappy suggestions I got.
Buy two pair of female banana jacks. Solder short lengths of wire to the terminals at the base of the jacks. Strip the other end of the wire, and insert into the existing Pioneer spring speaker terminals.
Insulate exposed contact areas with the heat shrink you mentioned, and you're done. It's not very pretty, but who's going to see it? I've used this method to avoid hacking up the speaker screw terminals on old Marantz, McIntosh, and Dynaco tube gear.
If you want to get fancier, you can do the same thing with standard 5-way binding posts.
Twist the bare wire, insert, done. You can add pin-plugs but these terminals were made for bare wires.
Its 12 gauge wire and the banana jacks were sonically welded. Chop them off and put a few conductors or the 12 gauge wire into the holes? Not an option.
Or get wires that will fit.
