P JFET
Left Chanel board with 4 x JFETs
Hello all,
This is my first post. I am based in Spain, and I am the 3rd owner of an AR VT100 MKIII power amp, originally sold in Belgium.
The spanish AR representative won´t repair units that were not sold by them, and unfortunately I need to repair my unit (one of the JFET burned). I know I could get it repaired in another country, but before spending such amount of money in transport for just replacing the JFETs, I wonder if anyone could help me identify the part number/manufacturer of this JFET, as they have a color coding. See the pictures above:
1. FET Transistor (Has a “P” on the back; color coding: light grey brush horizontal line; Then next a Big green dot; smaller orange dot).
2. Next image is a part of the left channel board seen from the inside, where you can see 4 JFETs (all equal) Although only one of them burned, I would like to replace the 4 of them.
Many thanks, and let me know if I should post this message somewhere else in Audio Asylum.
Follow Ups:
ARC used N-Channel JFETs in the VT100mkII (I know that you have the mkIII).
I don't know the part number but you could call ARC and see if they will sell you the part.
Of course this begs the question, why did it burn up in the first place, and if you replace it with a new one, will it burn up again?
Thanks Abecollins.
regarding why the JFET burned, the fault is completely mine, as I left some dehumidifier vases on top the amp and they spilt some liquid resine on the fan and some parts of the board inside...
now after cleaning thoroughly I hope things will work out...
Unless I'm missing the jfets in the schematic.
My bad. Those are indeed MOSFETS in the mkII.
MOSFETS are a lot better than JFETS
Depends on the application.
