My Transperant wave speaker cables have spades but they're too big to fit on my new to me mc7270. I'd rather not cut them off and reterminate.
Any recommendations? Thanks!

to the one I've used, fast service, cheap, but you get what you pay for sometimes. I don't have a problem with them. Not associated with the seller.
are ok, gold plated but pretty low Q. I can't really tell much about the sound, but I use them on my Mc MA 5100 and also the back of my Fulton FMI-80's.
It seems like you don't want to alter the terminations, so one might use those bananas like I do, but that's really adding a lot of extra terminations.
Then best to research feedback on the adapters here @ AA.
The inexpensive adapters will accept larger spades and standard bananas.
Never tried them myself, so no useful opinion.

grind off the edges of your existing spades until they fit the width of the terminal block. I've done this for use with the older tube Mac gear - after having busted a few of the phenolic barriers trying to fit them.

The spades look like these if that matters.

You can always remove the existing screw, then use a stud screw and a couple of jamming nuts. I know this method is introducing additional components but it's a quick/temporary fix without grinding anything.
Essentially you are building a spacer to raise the connection above the plastic fins. Might have to use more than one jamming nut, or maybe some sort of copper pipe spacer/washers.
Some of the binding posts you can buy can also screw into the existing hole. Just by removing the bottom nut that normally jams them against the chassis. Actually, I think Mitchell makes some for this very purpose, but I cannot find any pics for you on the internet.
See my (top view) drawing attached as attempt to explain.

Unless you are very carful you might invite a shorting event if they should loosen. The lugs will be very close to each other. I suppose you could use some electricians tape to isolate them, but........
especially if using the taps right next to each other.
Cables sure look meaty as well and could loosen the assembly fairly quickly.
Proceed with caution I guess.
I have screw terminal strips on my ARC D70.
Admittedly I had to file down my spades to make them fit. Mind you I self terminated my cables, had access to a solder pot and everything at the time.
If factory terminated cables I don't know if I would have filed them down. It would have seemed taboo. Preferring instead to leave them "stock".
Probably would have changed out the strips for binding posts, knowing that I could always return the amp back to the stock strips if I had ever wanted to.

why would makers of high quality gear even put little tiny cheap screw terminals on their amps? Especially mcintosh! With all the high end cables out there terminated in fat spades or banana plugs... amp makers that use those damned little screw terminals must be giggling to themselves as they install them. They have to know that a customer who's spending $5000 or more on an amp probably already owns expensive speaker cables terminated in spades or banana plugs.why why why
It's rediculous.
