FWIW I found KT88's preferable to both 6550's and EL-34's in my SLI-80. The KT88's delivered more (and much tighter) low end. The EL-34's had the least amount of bass out of three tube types, and the 6550's were somewhere in the middle. That being said, the SLI-80 is an exceptional integrated and will sound great with just about any model/brand of tube it accepts.
