I installed dedicated circuits for the power amp and pre-amp in my electric panel. Now you can put your ear up to the speaker and hear NO power line hiss from other stuff in the house at full volume, (which really impressed my audio engineer son). The big plus was a cleaner sound to the music played through the system. Although my amp's max draw is 13 amps, I put in a 20 amp circuit for it, which seems to improve the dynamics a bit. I also put the plasma TV on it's own circuit which improved picture quality. Depending on how far away from a transformer you are, and how many houses are on the same transformer, you can get noise from other people's electrical stuff as well.
