RE: Choices for my 2M Black/Xpression II rig: new stylus or new, different cartridge?

Posted by dvb on May 30, 2012 at 09:41:50:

I'm surprised the 2M Black has a street price of $300- $400 - the on-line price (Needle Doctor) is $700.00 ($670.00 after the frequent 10% discounts). The Bronze is now in the one at $400.00.

I'd jump at the Black at $400.00!

I've gone cross-eyed reading all the reviews of the 2M series on line - the only ones that seem to get consistent praise are the Red (for its price-point) and the Black. So, I'd be surprised that the sibilance you are mentioning on the Black is found on a Black in mint condition. Sibilance does get mentioned for the Red and Blue.

People generally seem to like the Bronze, except Hi-Fi News, which found its mid-range "hard".

BTW - does your Xpression II have the carbon fiber arm?

You'll note I have a similar thread a short distance down the page.
