Advents in Stereophile

Posted by Bold Eagle on April 15, 2010 at 16:57:58:

Anybody see this article? Art Dudley picked up a pair of original walnut Advents for $15 and refoamed the woofers. No mention of replacing the crossover caps.

What's interesting is the speakers appear to be Franken-Advents - New Advent woofers; but very early tweeters without the mesh grills. The New Advent woofer was used in some late production original Advents in late 1977. The tweeters, however, were the type used before early 1972 without the mesh protective grills and with the 4" x 4" Masonite panel at less than 45 degrees to the stell mounting plate. No telling what shape (or version) of the crossover was in place.

Art, you should have talked to us here at AA first.
