Hi All,
I may, after further investigation, be able to at least partially answer my own question.

I believe the two line Siemens code deciphers as follows:

A = tube type, in this case E88CC/6922.
4 =??

9 = last digit of year manufactured. (1979)
G = month of manufacture (July, where A = January, B = February etc….)

The second letter (4) is still to me an unknown, possibly a factory identification code or tube type revision code.

I post this with the expectation that it may help others.
