McIntosh MC30 or MC60 - which one is superior ?

Posted by baja on March 8, 2009 at 06:55:24:

hi,
I'm just looking around for new amps for my Altec 604H speakers.
I'd like to go for the McIntosh MC30 or MC60. Of course there is no opportunity to listen both amps at the same time. It would be nice to get first suggestions about their differences - especially the Mc30 uses the 1614 tubes and the MC60 comes with Kt88/6550. Also the MC60 has two rectifier tubes. To be honest, I don't really believe in the Kt88/6550 tubes ...
The MACs should replace an integrated amp with 845 tubes. The ideal preamp would be a McIntosh C20
probably there are any person who had the chance to audit both amps or even have owned the MC30 and the MC60.
Thanks for reply and best.
