Re: Standard Chinese 845 vs Valve Art 845

Posted by Paul Barker on January 25, 2004 at 01:17:16:

I would have expected a more stark result. When comparing Chinease 211 (same crap construction as non valve art 845) to GE VT4C (beautiful construction) the sound difference is night and day. How can I scale the difference for you? I suppose it's like comparing a power supply consisting of choke input, wkz black gates that have been running continuous for 100 years, potato masher rectifier, with 1n4007's CLC stock 'lytics. It really is a massive difference, there are so many differences so large that I'm struggling to find comparators for you.
