I believe the 2A3 is the best all around tube for me. 45 is a little too low power & the 300B not quite the sonic quality of the 2A3 unless one goes with expensive new stock such as Emission Labs.

Designing an amp with high quality components around a tube is more important that the tube itself for best sonics. As for audio transformers, no inexpensive top quality parts exists.
