While I don't have a good answer for you, I wanted to point out that most good box speakers require just as much space around them as Maggies to sound their best. You can fairly easily move the lightweight Maggies to their best location for times when you're doing some critical listening. Large box speakers are usually a lot harder to move for short listening sessions.

Since you love your Maggies so much, perhaps you should put more thought into a solution before you get rid of them. As an alternative you might consider the MMG's. While you may consider them a step down from your current speakers, based on your preference for the Maggie sound, they may still give you greater satisfaction than many box speakers.
