Re: Has anyone A-B compared audio racks?

I have never A/B racks but I just swaped my Zoethecus amp stands for Machina Dynamica Promethean's. The difference was easily noticable, hence the change was a no-brainer. Speaking from my experience (amp)stands do influence the sound of the system. So I would then assume that component racks impart a signature on the sound.
Before you go through the hassle of finding a new rack you should try some different isolation products and see if they fix the problem. I have a Symposium Svelte Shelf and Rollerblocks under my phono stage. The system sounds "mushier" when the component is not isolated. Any dealer worth his salt will let you take home isolation devises to see if they work. I'd be willing to bet that an inexpensive Bright Star shelf and/or Rollerblocks, etc will help. Good luck.
