Why not consider all tube? For around $3,000 used there's the Jadis Defy 7 or ASL Hurricanes.

I know that the early ASL Hurricanes had a host of issues but by now any set still working has been sorted out. Just use quality old stock tubes that can take that circuit as it runs the tubes hot. The sound quality from either, Jadis or ASL, would be competitive.
