RE: MC step-up transformer for Ortofon SL15E

There are lots of choices. Classic step up trannies that are still obtainable are the Cotter, Denon, Dynavector, Fidelity Research, Grace, Ortofon, Supex, Audio Technica and many more. For those lurkers, Grace did indeed have a great unit, not imported to the USA. Most Ortofons, even the small cheapies, are highly regarded.

FR3, FR3T and Dynavector DV-6, as well as the Cotter, can be a little bright, especially with the slightly bright cartridges. I can heartily recommend the Denon AU-320. I have used this one and heard it in many systems, with never a fault. It can also switch between two tt setups and has 3-10 or 40 Ohm Nominal settings. It has a very natural sound, too.
Plus, you can save half of your budget for more cartridges or LPs...
